Gannett Newspaper Division Announces Executive Appointments
McLEAN, VA – Ellen Lind today was named president and publisher of the Norwich (CT) Bulletin. She had been advertising director of The Burlington (VT) Free Press.
Lind succeeds Sherman Bodner, who has been named chief executive officer of the new Texas-New Mexico Newspapers Partnership. Formation of the partnership with MediaNews Group was announced today.
“Ellen’s range of experience in the newspaper business makes her an ideal publisher to serve the Norwich area readers and advertisers,” said Gary Watson, president of the Newspaper Division.
Lind joined Gannett in 1996 as the classified manager at The Greenville (SC) News. She became advertising director in Burlington in 2000. She held various positions in advertising with The Sacramento (CA) Bee, The Kansas City Times-Star, The San Juan (PR) Star and other publications. She began her career as a telephone sales representative at Southwestern Bell in St. Louis.
“Sherman has been involved in almost every aspect of journalism in his career with Gannett. We’re pleased to have someone with his depth of knowledge to take on the challenge of running the partnership,” Watson said.
Bodner has been at Norwich since 1999. His appointment there followed a 23-year career in editorial, circulation, human resources and information technology at The Journal News in Westchester, NY. He began as a reporter at the Hudson Dispatch in Union City, NJ.
