Gannett Names New President and Publisher in Oshkosh, WI

McLEAN, VA – Tom Cooper will become the president and publisher of the Oshkosh (WI) Northwestern, it was announced today. Cooper was vice president for marketing of the Des Moines (IA) Register.

Cooper also will serve as vice president for marketing for the east group of Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers, which includes The Post-Crescent. He replaces Kevin Doyle, who recently was named president and publisher of the Pensacola (FL) News Journal.

“This is a great move for Tom, Oshkosh employees and Wisconsin readers,” said Sue Clark-Johnson, president of Gannett’s Newspaper Division. “He brings both people skills and strategic marketing skills to his new dual responsibilities. I am delighted Tom has accepted the challenge.”

Cooper has been at the Des Moines Register since 2000. Previously, we worked in marketing and sales jobs at the Montgomery (AL) Advertiser and the Green Bay (WI) Press-Gazette. He joined Gannett in 1990.

Cooper is a native of Racine, WI and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Parkside.
