Gannett Names Silverstein President and Publisher of the Daily Times in Salisbury, MD
McLEAN, VA – Joni L. Silverstein has been named president and publisher of The Daily Times in Salisbury, MD, it was announced today.
Silverstein previously was vice president/market development at The News Journal in Wilmington, DE. She succeeds Lawrence J. Jock Jr., who resigned.
“Joni Silverstein is quite familiar with The Daily Times and its affiliated publications, as well as the Salisbury community,” said Gary L. Watson, president of the Newspaper Division. “This positions her well for the new responsibilities.”
In her role at The News Journal, which shares services with The Daily Times, Silverstein has been active in numerous cooperative efforts between the two newspapers. From 1991 to 1994, Silverstein was based in Salisbury as the publisher and group executive of a daily and a group of non-daily publications.
She joined Gannett (NYSE: GCI) in 1998 as director/market development in Wilmington. She also has worked at The Californian in Bakersfield, The Blade in Toledo, Ohio, and the Observer & Eccentric Newspapers in suburban Detroit.
