Gannett Names President of the Newspaper Network of Central Ohio
McLEAN, Va. – Robert E. Robbins has been named president of the Newspaper Network of Central Ohio and president and publisher of The Advocate in Newark, it was announced today.
Robbins formerly was president and publisher of the Wausau (Wis.) Daily Herald and a vice president of the Midwest Group responsible for four central Wisconsin newspapers.
“Bob has distinguished himself as multi-faceted newspaper executive,” said Gary L. Watson, president of the Newspaper Division. “With his experience, he will do well in his new assignment.”
Robbins succeeds Nick Monico, who resigned.
Robbins joined Gannett in 1969 in the accounting department of the Palladium-Item in Richmond, Ind., where he later served as controller. He also was the controller of the Chronicle-Tribune in Marion, Ind., and The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss. He also has served as president and publisher of Gannett newspapers in Hattiesburg and Jackson, Miss., and Bellingham, Wash., as well as president of New Jersey Publishing Co., which produced local telephone directories.
A successor to Robbins in Wausau will be named shortly.
