Gannett Names Publisher of the News-Messenger at Fremont, Ohio and the News Herald at Port Clinton, Ohio
McLEAN, VA – Lucinda (Cindy) George Bealer has been named president and publisher of The News-Messenger at Fremont, Ohio, and the News Herald at Port Clinton, Ohio. She previously was advertising director of the Lafayette (Ind.) Journal and Courier.
“Cindy’s performance has earned this promotion,” said Gary L. Watson, president of the Newspaper Division. “Her years of advertising management experience and understanding of Midwestern communities will pay dividends in her new job.”
Bealer joined Gannett in 1991 and held advertising management positions at newspapers in Lansing, Mich.; Huntington, W.Va., and Port Huron, Mich., before joining Lafayette in 1999. She also worked for the Akron (Ohio) Beacon Journal before joining Gannett.
Bealer is a native of Sandusky, Ohio. She received a bachelor of arts degree in advertising from the University of Akron. She is married and has one child.
She succeeds James F. Daubel, who is retiring.
