Executive Appointments Announced at New New Jersey Newspaper Group

ARLINGTON, Va. — Robert T. Collins has been named president of the newly formed New Jersey Newspaper Group, it was announced today.

Collins also serves as president and publisher of the Asbury Park Press and the Home News Tribune in East Brunswick, which Gannett acquired in October of last year.

Ketan N. Gandhi, vice president/finance at Asbury Park, assumes the additional duties as controller for the new newspaper group.

“With the recent acquisition of the additional newspapers in New Jersey,” said Gary L. Watson, president of the Newspaper Division, “it only makes sense to bring them together under one management structure. Bob Collins knows New Jersey and its newspapers. He’s the right man for the job as president.”

In addition to the Asbury Park Press and the Home News Tribune, the New Jersey Newspaper Group will include the Courier-Post at Cherry Hill; The Courier-News at Bridgewater and The Daily Journal at Vineland.

Before moving to Asbury Park, Collins, 54, had served as president and publisher of the Courier-Post since 1980. He also held similar posts at the Valley News Dispatch in Tarentum, Pa., and the Public Opinion in Chambersburg. He also previously served as the president of the East Newspaper Group.

Gandhi, 35, previously served as controller at Gannett newspapers in Binghamton and Elmira, N.Y., and Tarentum/North Hills, Pa.

Gannett is a nationwide news and information company that publishes 88 daily newspapers, including USA TODAY, and USA WEEKEND, a newspaper magazine. Gannett also operates 20 television stations, cable television systems in five states and alarm security services.
