Gannett Completes Acquisition of Two Maine TV Stations
ARLINGTON, Va. — Cecil L. Walker, president and CEO of Gannett Broadcasting, announced today that Gannett has concluded the transaction with Maine Radio and Television Company, to acquire WCSH-TV, the NBC affiliate in Portland, Maine, and WLBZ-TV, the NBC affiliate in Bangor, Maine.
With the completion of this transaction, Gannett Broadcasting consists of 20 television stations, reaching 16.3 percent of the U.S. television market, and cable operations in five states.
In addition to its broadcasting operations, Gannett publishes 88 daily newspapers, including USA TODAY, and USA WEEKEND, a newspaper magazine.
