SMS Messaging Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) applies to SMS messaging activities between TEGNA Inc., its subsidiaries and/or affiliates (collectively, “TEGNA”) and candidates applying for positions with TEGNA. This Policy does not supersede TEGNA’s standard consumer Privacy Policy, which describes our privacy practices relative to your use of TEGNA’s websites and other digital properties.

When you apply for a position with TEGNA, you have the opportunity to opt in to our use of your mobile telephone number to allow our personnel to communicate with you about your application. This policy describes how we will use and/or disclose your mobile number if you provide it to us.

Collection of Phone Numbers

We will collect your phone numbers only if you voluntarily provide it to us when you complete and submit a job application for a position with TEGNA through the Careers page available on our website.

Use of Phone Numbers for SMS

During the application process, you will have the option to select to receive SMS messages from us relating to your application. We will not send you SMS messages if you opt out of the use of your phone number for that purpose. If you opt in, you may receive periodic messages from our team, including information about the status of your application, interview scheduling requests, etc. Please be aware that you may incur SMS messaging charges from your mobile carrier in connection with these messages. We will not use your phone number to send you general marketing messages about our (or others’) products or services and will never sell or transfer your phone number to another party for marketing purposes.

Opting Out of SMS Messages

If at any time you wish to stop receiving SMS messages from us in connection with your job application, you can opt out by responding to our messages with any of the following:

  • Texting STOP
  • Texting UNSUBSCRIBE
  • Texting CANCEL
  • Texting QUIT

Please note that the opt-out process may take up to 10 business days to become effective. During this period, you may still receive some messages from us.

Changes to This Policy

We may periodically update this policy. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat your information by placing a prominent notice on our TEGNA Careers web page.
