Publisher Named for Louisiana Newspapers
MCLEAN, VA – Ted Power has been named president and publisher of The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, La., and the Daily World in Opelousas, La., it was announced by today by Gannett Co., Inc (NYSE:GCI).
He succeeds Chris Jensen, who is retiring at the end of the year.
“We want to express our gratitude to Chris for his long and meritorious service over the past 37 years,” said Gary L. Watson, president of the Newspaper Division. “We wish him all the best in the future.”
“Ted Power has demonstrated he mixes the best of editorial integrity and strong business acumen,” said Watson. “He is very well suited to lead the commitment to service and growth at The Daily Advertiser and the Daily World.”
Power, 45, had been editor and general manager of the highly successful Williamson A.M. edition of The Tennessean at Nashville. He joined The Tennessean in 1979, where he served in a variety of roles in the news department before launching Williamson A.M. in 1996. Power is a native of Warrenton, Va., and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He and his wife, Kathleen Kirby Power, have two children.
