Team TEGNA Welcomes Daniel McDonough as Director of Client Strategy
At TEGNA, our goal is to serve the greater good of our local communities. That includes helping businesses and economies thrive. To help our partners make smart marketing decisions, we proudly welcome Daniel McDonough to #TeamTEGNA as our new Director of Client Strategy! We are so happy to have Daniel on board and know she will be a fantastic addition as we strive to serve the greater good.
Talk about your career path. How did you get to where you are today at TEGNA?
I’ve been lucky enough throughout my career to work for some amazing companies (Major League Soccer / Dailymotion / Demand Media / MediaVest). Each organization and role have helped shape who I am and positioned me with a well-rounded background in both media and marketing.
I took a little personal time from the end of May to mid-September to spend more time with my family and refocus my professional ambitions. My friend and neighbor, Brett Blattman, introduced me to TEGNA, and the rest is history.
What is your current role at TEGNA? What are you most looking forward to?
Director of Client Strategy for TEGNA Marketing Solutions. I look forward to partnering with Local and National Sales to help drive efficiencies and maximize revenue opportunities.
Good Company: What does being in good company mean to you?
It means surrounding yourself with people that have similar ideals and visions in life. Enjoying the company of those that you work with on a daily basis.
What advice would you give to someone looking to work in media/sales/marketing?
Don’t get comfortable with the current state of Media/Marketing. This landscape is continually evolving and changing. In order to be successful, you must allow yourself to adapt to it.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?
Joel McHale
What’s your secret talent?
Over the last few years, I’ve picked up woodworking. I wouldn’t say it’s a “talent” at this point as everything I make is littered with mistakes. However, I really enjoy the creative process and problem-solving that are inherently involved. I most recently finished a bar for my backyard, which I’m very proud of.
Motto or personal mantra?
Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can’t lose.
Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?
I’d probably go back to Bora Bora and the surrounding islands. My wife and I went there on our honeymoon and can’t imagine a more magical place elsewhere.
You’re happiest when …
I’m on vacation with my family. Just the four of us exploring someplace new.
