Collective Effort Expands Super Bowl Content
Gannett properties unite this week to provide extensive coverage building up to Super Bowl XLIII on Sunday, Feb. 1.
Two locations have a special interest in this year’s game: The Arizona Republic, azcentral.com and KPNX-TV because of The Arizona Cardinals; and WTSP-TV because the game is being played in Tampa Bay.
The Republic, USA TODAY, Gannett News Service, KPNX-TV in Phoenix and WTSP-TV in Tampa-St. Petersburg are sharing content on many aspects of the game. Phoenix also is sharing content with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the St. Petersburg Times.
AzCentral.com hosts extensive coverage of game preparations. WTSP-TV’s Web site reflects Tampa residents’ excitement about the game, showing continuous live video and audio.
Twitter, text and e-mail alerts have launched on azcentral.com. KPNX is producing video and slideshows. And a group twitter stream is being produced. WTSP is live streaming throughout the week. KPNX is covering events in Tampa and Phoenix and viewing parties on Super Sunday.
Writers are posting twice-daily blogs and continual blog items from the party scene (both in Tampa and Phoenix).
The Cardinals FanZone on azcentral.com includes several cool features. Fans can upload a picture of themselves, which can be used to create a picture of the fan in a Cardinals or Steelers helmet or uniform. Fans also can participate in a “Whack-a-Ben” animated game.
The Republic is producing special print sections on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. An additional section will be produced Sunday night if the game goes to the Cardinals.
Other coverage includes stories on topics such as game superstitions, key matchups for the game, what to find on the Cardinals FanZone, how to throw a Super Bowl party, behind-the-scenes interviews, how the Cardinals are the ultimate underdog and everything a fan might want to know to be prepared for the game.
Kick off is at 6:20 p.m. E.T., Sunday, Feb. 1.
